LAW 3001 - Law, Security and Privacy

 

This course introduces students to the emerging legal and business issues faced by businesses in our information economy. This course reviews the concept of privacy, jurisdictional issues, privacy and unreasonable search and seizure under the Charter of Rights & Freedoms, privacy law, access to information, cyberlibel and intermediary liability, the regulation of telecommunications, freedom of the press, defamation, workplace privacy and invasion of privacy. Students are taught to identify legal issues and to develop strategies for mitigating and managing risk.
